"More rain, hefty wind, and much more frost"
At least the weather stabilized. We only had one day of some kind of sun the rest of the last week was quiet wet. The weather was my favorite one: during the day just a touch above zero and the precipitation varied from drizzle to hefty showers, during the night it was damp and cold and our frosty car turned out to be a damp frosty car.
Not much to say really, during the day I wander along the only road possible the TCH 1 the Trans Canadian Highway and except of sporadically appearing hunters out of the woods no more news. The people are very friendly and very curious and when we park our car near a village hidden somewhere in the woods almost everybody comes along for a chat. The old railway track paralleling the TCH is almost impossible to hike, loose gravel and the track is wasted by thousands of quadbike rides which made an endless row of water filled ditches, besides the track is nothing but swamps.
The well known beauty of the colorful Indian Summer is on sparse. Most of the days are measured in variations of gray with a touch of drizzle.
On one occasion we spent a night in a motel (Badger, Kelly’s Motel) and had the probably worst Chinese dinner in our entire life there. It wasn’t “rat meat” (which is actually good), it was all bad.
The shrimps were covered with centimeter deep greasy “what so ever”, the rice warmed up the hundreds time and from last month and faked with soy sauce and the sweat sour sauce has been from a grocery store bottle with a glue consistence of raspberry what-so-ever. 26 $ for a night full of greasy burps, not bad. Why we went there? We ran out of everything and the next “shop” was about 50 km way. Anyway the next morning the routine kept on with rain, gray all over and trucks. This has to be ending very soon, please!
5 more days ...
Written: Saturday, Terra Nova NP, Nuffiland, -5° C at night and hefty rain with 15° C !!! during the day crazy.
